April 14 (UP)-Three persons were burned to death today when an explosion and fire deployed their two-story farm borne five miles east of here. The dead were Edward Ubel. 46. his wife, and their daughter Pollyanna, 12. The family was trapped when flames enveloped the house after a gas stove exploded in the basement. Louis Reinhart, a neighbor, saw the flames, but he was unable to enter the burning house. The walls and floors of the house caved in while New Ulm firemen were attempting to check the fire BRAINERD DAILY DISPATCH APRIL 18, 1941 TRIPLE RITES HELD NEW ULM, Minn. (UP) - Triple services were held today for three victims of an explosion and fire which destroyed a two-story frame home five miles east of here Monday. The victims were Edward J. Ubel, 46; his wife, Vacelia, 44; and their 13-year-old daughter, Pollyanna. They were buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
