Born in Germany lizabeth Meaney, 1845-1921, also born in Germany. ohn MEANEY and his wife Elizabeth, lived in Mankato for 40 + years. Elizabeth s the dau of August and Catherina Pisbach. The couple had 8 known children. atherine, Joseph, Bertha, Mary, Frank, Jacob, Edwin and Henry. John & Eliz appear on the census in Mankato from 1880-1920 In 1921 when Elizabeth passed away, she named only 3 living children in her ill. Catherine Miller, nee Meany; Henry; and Frank. John states he was of German/Prussian ancestry in 4 census years but yet his urname reflects an=2 0Irish name. n the 1875 MN states census John declares he served in the Civil War. n the 1890 MN State Census of Survivors of Soldiers, Sailors, Widows John lists his name as John Meaney and after Meaney in brackets it says "MINCH" Any clues of a name change?
