John Jacob Meaney, son of John and Elizabeth (Pisbah) Meaney, was born 17 Sep 1875 at Mankato, Blue Earth Co., MN.  John Jacob married Ida Elizabeth Sherbel29 Sep 1879 at Jackson, Jackson Co. MN.  Ida Elizabeth Sherbel was born 9 apr 1982 at Mankato.  Ida and John Jacob had nine children and lived in Multnomah Co., Oregon.  Ida was a sister to Katie Rose Sherbel, who married Stephen Schaub at Mankato.  Stephen Schaub and Katie are my husband's grandparents.  Not too close a connection, but you might like to know about it.  My home is in Blue Earth Co. John states he was of German/Prussian ancestry in 4 census years but yet his urname reflects an=2 0Irish name. n the 1875 MN states census John declares he served in the Civil War. n the 1890 MN State Census of Survivors of Soldiers, Sailors, Widows John lists his name as John Meaney and after Meaney in brackets it says "MINCH" Any clues of a name change?
