Eva Theresa SCHAEFER was born 1832 in Lindach Baden (I believe this is near Eberbach in Rhein-Neckar-Kreis). Her 1925 Obit says her father was Anton and that the family came from Baden in 1852 to Dayton Ohio, then to St. Paul in 1854 and finally to Mankato in 1856. Her father had a farm near the old Carney Cement site. Obit also notes sister Mary Dittman living in Texas. Found online source for John William Hoerr married to Margaret Schaefer in 1858. This notes her parents as George A. (Anton?) & Margaret Schaefer...they came from Baden to Dayton in 1847 (later census of Marg shows 1852), then St. Paul in 1854 and Mankato in 1856. He had a farm in Lime later a part of Widell Stone Quarry. Went through various census and noted various people living with or next door to others. George A. (1803-1882+/-) and Margaret (1810-1890+/-) -Eva Theresa (1832) m. JP Saenger in 1859 Mankato (have not seen her acutally "linked" to this family). -Margaret (1833) m. JW Hoerr in 1858 Mankato. -Ann (1837) (listed in 1860 to live with Marg Hoerr). -Katherine (1843) m. SB Martin in 1873 (1860 servant to Wise; 1870 with parents; 1875 married; 1880 married and lived near sister Marg Hoerr; 1885 had mother Marg with her). -Mary (1850) m. FE Dittman in 1875 (1860-1870 lived with parents; 1875-1885 married with children Charles, Arthur & Vivian; 1900 widowed and living with daughter Vivian; 1930 Mary not listed but son Charles Dittman listed as born 1876 Minnesota lives in Texas). I have not found any other info (immigration, etc.) to show the entire family together. However, I am assuming Eva belongs to them due to her obituary which notes similar migration, possible A=Anton, and sister Mary Dittman which appears to fit (name and age is consistant and seems her son was in Texas). Looking for any information that proves/disproves this and/or family connections. Pete Hanson
I apparently lied about something. I swear I saw yesterday that there was a Charles F. Dittman born around 1876 in Minnesota that was living in Texas in 1930....but I can't find that census again. This "kills" the "proof" that Mary Dittman was in Texas when Eva Saenger died in 1925. So, as of now, the theory that Eva fits into this family relies on the possible George A=Anton theory, the migration similarity and the likelihood that it was George & Margaret's daughter Mary that married Fred Dittman....and that she is the one referenced in Eva's obit. ----- Original Message ----- From: "peter hanson" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, January 7, 2010 12:11:19 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [MNBLUEEA] Schaefer Eva Theresa SCHAEFER was born 1832 in Lindach Baden (I believe this is near Eberbach in Rhein-Neckar-Kreis).
