I've "rescued" an old photograph of Bernice Catherine MACDIARMID which was taken at the Leavitt & Keene's Studio in Mankato, Minnesota. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Bernice an infant at the time. In addition to her name, someone has also written "1st child of James A. & Agnes Rose" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Bernice and her family: Bernice C. MCDIARMID was b. 3 Oct 1891 in Fulda, MN to parents James "Jas" Alexander MCDIARMID (1869-1961) and Agnes Rose JACOBS (1871-1920). Bernice was one of 6 children born to this couple including, Bernice; Elvetta or Elletta Agnes; Lois Merceline; Frederick James; Leona; and Margaret MCDIARMID, all born between 1891 and 1902. Bernice married Edgar Philip FOLSOM Jr. (1889-1942) on 31 Jul 1913 in Hennepin Co. MN and together they had two sons, Donald Edgar b. 1918 and Richard "Dicky" b. 1921. Bernice C. FOLSOM died 7 May 1949 in Los Angeles, CA and is buried in the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA. Census and City Directory records provide the following details: 1895 census of Fulda Village, MN: James MCDIARMID, age 24, born Canada, a Drayman Agnes MCDIARMID, age 22, born VT, a Wife Bernice MCDIARMID, age 3, born MN Elvetta MCDAIRMID, age 1, born MN 1905 census of Minneapolis, MN: James MCDIARMID, age 35, born Canada, parents born Scotland, Oil Co.
