You are so helpful. I had been sent a Churchill genealogy some time ago, and it says that Wm. Churchill died 6 Jun 1875; and that his third wife was Mary E. Minard, married 31 Dec 1870 at Red Wing, Goodhue, MN; and that Mary died 21 May 1905 (thus, the reason she doesn't show up in a 1910 census). Mary married Wm. Henry Butler in 1881 and had three children: Hattie born Aug 1883 in MN; George H. Butler, born 21 Dec 1885; and Eliza Butler, who in a l905 Fed. census in Cherry Grove, Goodhue, MN census is shown to be age 17, born in MN. I wonder if this could be the ELLA you found, maybe name changed by census taker, etc. I have a 1910 census showing Hattie married to a Joseph Butler (strange, isn't it?) with a child Lawrence, one year old, and a cousin, Vern, age 5. I cannot find Lawrence's birth record in Hennepin Co., Minneapolis, MN. I'm thinking perhaps he was illegitimate and records are not available. Lawrence born 22 April 1909. I'm not positive Joseph is Hattie's husband, but the information fits. I tried the site you gave me, but it would not go forward unless I entered information, but couldn't find where to enter name. Thanks again. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Last night after I posted I was looking around. Did you happen to find Mary in the 1910 census? In the 1900 it lists her as having 7 children and 7 survive. I "think" I may have found another child born to her and Henry that must have died before the 1885 census. The reason I am telling you this is because somewhere there are births recorded in this time frame. Hattie does not show up on this site but a child by the name of Ella does that was born in Rice County. This is a fun site if you don't know about it if you are looking for people in MN. Here is the site and her entry: http://dalbydata.com/user.php?action=birthsearchresults BUTLER ELLA JANETTE 16/APR/1882 FEMALE - WHITE FARIBAULT, MN. WILLIAM H. MARY E. CANADA - ILLINOIS FARMER If Mary died in 1926 it does list her. It lists her under the "cemetery" search but the cemetery is listed as "unknown". BUTLER MRS OCT/1926 UNKNOWN (burial) SP. ?. BUTLER, ILL. FDN. 06/OCT/1926 I don't know if Henry died or if they divorced. BUT do be aware that if he did die and you are looking for him in Rice county, there is Henry that was born in Canada around the same time as your Henry. If you look for land records or other records pertaining to Henry, make sure you have your Henry. Best of luck in finding Hattie's birth record. I found Edwin (Edward) M Meaney in the Melrose, Stearns County, MN 1900 US Census, age 21 married to Elizabeth age 22. married for 2 years; with one living child; however the name of the child was not listed. Edwin was a rail road breakman, renting a home. He had worked for the rail road for 3 yrs. I was not able to locate newspaper archives on line. Maybe the historical societies of either Stearns or Blue Earth County can be of assistance. [11 Jun 1832 - 1913] On Wednesday, Nov. 5th, occurred the death of Karl Birr at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Meyer, some miles southeast of Kasota. He had attained the advanced age of 81 years and 5 months, and had been suffering, during the past summer, with the usual complications of ailments attendant upon old age. The deceased was born in the province of Pommerin, Germany, on June 11, 1832, and was therefore a little over eighty-one years of age. In his younger days, Mr. Birr learned the trade of wagon making which he followed for a number of years. Later in life he decided to come to America and make a home for his growing family and in 1885 came to Minnesota, locating in Le Sueur county. Four years later he removed to Medo township, purchasing the farm of A. Guthier, where he lived a number of years respected by all, being a neighbor and friend in every sense of the word. He is survived by three sons and four daughters, namely; Oscar Birr of Medo, Charles Birr of Carlos, Douglas county, Herman Birr of Mapleton, Mrs. Mary Schull of Medo, Mrs. Otto Meyers of Mankato, Mrs. William Meyers of Kasota, and Mrs. William Hawker of Mapleton. A brother at Kasota and two sisters in New York, also remain to mourn the loss of a beloved brother. The remains were taken to Mapleton for burial, funeral Services being held at the German Lutheran church that place last Saturday afternoon. Mr. Birr. had made his home with his children after the death of his wife, eight years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Scwitzenberg and children and Ernest and Herman Birr, nephews of the deceased, attended the funeral. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. From there the went to Jefferson Furnace, Ohio, and then to Cambria, Minnesota, in 1856. They moved in large part because of the poor soil quality in Ohio. Cambria was (and still is) a great farming area. I believe they were referred to as the Jackson Colony. They were a close knit and very religious group of Calvinistic Methodists and they clung to the Llangeitho tradition of Calvinism from Wales. On a side note, Elizabeth Price (b 1855 in Jefferson Furnace) was the Roberts you were looking for (though perhaps that has been figured out--I have not yet looked at the family tree you mentioned).
