    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mbratteli Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.blueearth/703.3.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes, according to my research: Reference: Blue Earth County Enterprise, Nov. 15, 1907 (newspaper) In the Gossip column under Sterling Center it states; "Mr. I. Wheeler had a most beautiful tombstone put up at the cemetery last week for his father and mother. It is indeed a beauty." The day this was listed in the newspaper is the same day that Isaac died and by the next week the headlines in the same paper were about the mystery surrounding his death. Within a very short amount of time the papers were printing information about what a strange man he was and how inappropriate the inscription on the tombstone was. It can change very quickly!! My relatives (Covey's) live and grew up around Sterling. My dad grew up across the highway from Sterling. She lived in Garden City and later in Vernon Center. Her husband was Nathaniel Alward. Her daughter, Elizabeth Alward taught in Red Wing and wrote up some sort of family history. I was wondering where a history like that could be found - is there a genealogical society or library that might have it? If anyone has information please let me know. I would love to hear from descendants of Maria. Thanks Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was my gg grandfather. I still haven't figured out just where exactly the property is on any BE County map. (His name was Henry John Mayer, Sr. aka Heinrich Mayer b. in Hessen, Germany). From the family history my gr. aunt wrote, the property was on the edge of Lake Crystal. But the census records say the family lived in Butternut Valley. My grandfather, Harold Mayer was born on the farm. I hope you can find something. Donna Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: fmdww Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.blueearth/2067.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes, Michael and his wife Bridget are buried in Mapleton. Michael's wife Bridget b 1840 is the one you have listed. I believe she is looking for Patrick and his wife Bridget. Bridget was born March 1855 per the 1900 census. If you have access to the 1885 census you will see Michael, Bridget and their family and right below them is Patrick, Bridget and their family. There are two Bridget McArdle's. I can find Patrick and Bridget in 1900 in Waseca County with four of their five children. The oldest daughter stayed in Blue Earth County with her family. I think the best bet is for her to check the records at the Waseca Court House for them. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: fmdww Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.minnesota.counties.blueearth/2067.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The last place I find them living is in Byron, Waseca County in 1900. A couple of their sons lived there. Have you followed up with any of the families to check with them as to when they died? I don't see either of them in the MN Death Records. It is possible they both died prior to 1905 as I don't see them in the census either. Possibly you might want to check the Waseca Court House death records starting in 1900. If you have their daughters names and where they are living after 1900, I can look them up in the census to see if either of the parents are living with them. They did leave Blue Earth County and lived in Waseca. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
