    1. [MNBENTON] 1895 schools in rural Sauk Rapids
    2. My grandmother grew up on a farm on what is now called 'Quarry Road' , just a mile or two from the village of Sauk Rapids. She was born in 1891 and I'm wondering about the school she attended. Does anyone have any idea of what schools there were then? Carol

    1. [MNBENTON] cemetery lookup - Leavitt family
    2. Hi, I'm new to the list, but not new to research. I have just discovered my 3rd-gt-grandfather in the 1860 Princeton, Benton, MN census and am wondering if he stayed in the area. I do not find him or any of his family in the 1870 MN census (but considering the trouble I had finding him in the 1860 census, I'm not surprised. His first name never appears the same way twice!) He was listed as follows: Ellnathan Leavitt (age 50, b. Maine) Rocksey Leavitt (wife, s/b Hannah, age 45, b. ME) Willis Leavitt (son, s/b Henry, poss. Henry William, age 25, b. ME) Wesley Leavitt (son, age 20, b. ME) Roena Leavitt (dau, could be son Rodney, age 18, b. ME) Emma Leavitt (dau, age 13, b. ME) They also had daughters Lucy J. (b. 1830, ME) & Amanda (b. 1846, ME) not listed with them. I see in the FHC catalog that there is an index to the gravestones in Benton county. Is there anyone on the list that has access to that and could tell me if there are any Leavitt's in it? (I realize they might not have stayed in Benton County.) I am new to MN research and am glad for any suggestions. Mary Ellen Moulton Plaistow, NH

    1. Re: [MNBENTON] Missins Information on Report of Death
    2. Donald, I'm going to assume that you did not receive a photocopy of the actual certificate from the Minnesota Dept. of Health, rather you received an abstract. You can get an actual photocopy of the death certificate from the Minnesota Historical Society and you can order it from information beginning at this link: http://people.mnhs.org/dci/search.cfm?bhcp=1 William Flowers -----Original Message----- From: gastorf@prodigy.net To: MNBENTON@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 3 Nov 2006 8:43 AM Subject: [MNBENTON] Missins Information on Report of Death I am seeking information on the date and place of burial which was omitted from a NON-CERTIFIED report of death. I paid my fee for the report. I sent a letter to the Minnesota Department of Health, Office of the Registrar and received a reply requesting an additional fee for another report. I explained the whole thing in my letter, but apparently someone did not read my letter or did not understand it. The death report was for DeShene, Alec, died February 15, 1939. report issued by State of Minnesata, County of Benton,Gilmanton Township. His correct spelling of his name is DeShane, Alex. 1. Dillon
    2. a possible correction on my previous post: In rereading my source information I see that my RAY DILLON is listed as Brother to the head of the house. That would mean the owner would be Harlie Dillon with Earl, Mabel & Fay as his family. This would be in 1920 in Sauk Rapids. Is anyone researching this family? Thank you, Carol

    3. Hello, I am new to this list. I am looking for information on Anna Malikowski. Anna was born May 30, 1864 in Poland. She is buried in Gilman at the St. Peter and Paul parrish cemetery. She was married to George Malikowski. When Anna came from Poland she resided for a time in Chicago. She married a man with the last name Myrowski. They had two children John and Paul. Myrowski may have died as Anna married George Malikowski when she was pregnant with Paul and they then moved to Gilman, Minnesota. George Adopted the two boys and they became Malikowski. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could find information on Anna's first husband "myrowski" So I could get onto the real trail and not an adopted one. Thanks, Paula Malikowski
