Julius M Fromelt's death record says his father Jos, mother Elizabeth, both German. 1880 IA census shows Anna in Clayton County, age 14. 1885 MN census shows Anna, Julius and 1 yr old son in Langola Township (Benton), MN; 1895 MN state census shows Julius, Anna and six children in Benton county MN. Julius states he's from Prussia, has been in MN since abt Feb 1880 and in Benton county since abt Dec 1881. Anna's obituary says Julius and Anna were married in St. Paul, MN. I have a notation 26May1883 but not sure if the date is correct for the marriage and not sure where the date is from . Some years ago I checked years 1882-1883 for Clayton county, IA and Ramsey county, MN for marriage records with no luck. Also checked Benton county, Immaculate Conception church , no records back that far. Don't remember if checked Benton county, but must have. Not sure if marriage records contain parents names, think maybe not. I've heard "declaration of intent" for citizernship might give parents names. What is your connection to the Fromelt name? MN called Rice. Some of the earlier towns were referred to as ------ Village, (Village after the main name of the town) Rice is on Highway 10 north of St. Cloud, I don't know how big a population today, but not overly large. I was there a few years ago, but we went east of the town to where my husband's ancestors were on a farm before the turn of the century-1900's. GOEDERT, KOLBET There is a smaller Benton Co. History center, I believe it was located in Saulk Rapids, which is also just a few miles north (east) of St. Cloud. I don't know the hours it is open, as I was there in the summer, also in St. Cloud, there is a large heritage center; Stearns county History center which is opened daily, maybe not on Sundays. I am trying to locate James C. Murray, born 4-15-1860 in Attleboro, MA. After 1898 he went "West". The closest find I have is from the 1900 Census. There is a listing of a James C. Murray living in Rice Village, Benton County, MN. He is listed a a boarder living with the McNeal family. While the year of birth is listed as 1859, everything else about him matches what I know. I have not found a listing for James C. Murray in the 1910 Census. So I am stumped. If anyone has information about Rice Village, MN, or where I might write for help, I would be very grateful.
