New Ulm, Brown County, Minnesota New Ulm Review, September 24, 1919 MRS. FRED KAPING Monday morning at 5:30 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Ferdinand Kaping at her home on North German street. She was a victim of the influenza last fall and ever since that time has been subject to sickness. The deceased, whose maiden name was Maria Schwartz, was born March 19, 1850 in Pommern, Germany. She came to this country with her parents when she was fourteen years old. They settled in Chicago where the lived a year and then removed to Courtland Township where they farmed for many years. At the age of eighteen the deceased was married to Ferdinand Kaping who proceeded her in death five years ago in November. They were the parents of twelve children, five of whom survive, namely Albert, of Watertown, S.D., Hugo, of near Sleepy Eye; Henry, Otto and Mrs Herman Cordes of New Ulm. The deceased is also survived by one brother Carl Schwartz of New Ulm and one sister, Julia Windhorn, also of New Ulm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 o'clock in the Lutheran church, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery.
