    1. ([MN-FINLANDERS])Response to surname shout-out
    2. Alice Ramsay
    3. Sorry it took me a while to respond. The surnames I'm looking for are  Laine and Esteroos -- originally O with a slash instead of the starting E, and a with little "o" on top for the last "oo". They lived in Carlton County and were originally from Ahlainen, Finland.I have found some records on them in Finland, but not having much luck with the Esteroos name after coming to USA.  I have a lot on Laine.

    3. Hi everyone! Just letting you know that the lists are back up and running again so to "celebrate" our return I'm initiating a first ever Surname Shout Out. A Surname Shout Out works like a Roll Call where we all post an ancestor we're totally stumped on. Happy Hunting! Rick B Admin

    1. Re: [MN-FINLANDERS] MN-FINLANDERS Digest, Vol 6, Issue 4
    2. Alice Have you researched his naturalization documents that are on file with the "Mn. Discovery Center" at Chisholm, Mn.? There are two documents in their system for Frank O. Laine. Those documents should contain more biographical information i.e. place of birth, date of immigration. Let me know if you need more info on the "Center". If you've done that search, pardon my recommendation. 3. I am still looking for my great-grandmother. Her name is either Marie or Amelia Hietala. She was born in Lapland, somewhere on 08 November 1872. Her fathers name was Pehr. Her brother Gustaf was born about 1840 and he (possibly) was married to Sanna. (I am unsure if this is her brother) Like everything else, I am unsure if alot of things are true with the Kultala/Hietala name. The Kultala and Hietala names have been a big mystery to me. I have all the census records up to 1930, but I think it is odd that the name was right after Amelia passed! Colleen
