Sue, I'd first find out where olde "George" is buried at and get a date of death, from head stone reading, then go to your local Library and order the Newspaper Microfilm inter-library loan for that year and start going through page by page !! Hi everyone, It has been recently brought to my attention that many people have never heard of the site, Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness (aka RAOGK) which is located at http://www.raogk.org/. The site is not new, it has been around for close to eight years. The purpose of RAOGK is to make the acquiring of documentation of your research without having to pay for travel costs, hotel/motel fees and trying to plan vacation time around research time. There are over 4000 volunteers around the world to do the legwork for you at their cost. Successful genealogical research is based upon people helping people. The volunteers unselfishly provide information available in their area to those who live far away. The cost to use the website is free, but reimbursement of the volunteer's expenses for copying, film for pictures, etc., is expected. Their volunteers are people like you, they are not professionals and are not listed on RAOGK site to do in-depth research. They have volunteered on the most part because they have been helped by others in the past and are just "passing the good deed on to others." Visit RAOGK, check out the hundreds of "Thank You's" that have been received from the many recipients of the services over the years and the awards received. If you wish to check for a volunteer in the area of your research, you *MUST* read the FAQ's for Requester's before doing so, a link is available off the main page to the FAQ's and in my signature below. Good Luck in your research Brenda Brenda K. Wolfgram Moore Quebec & U. S. Researcher [email protected] Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness _www.raogk.org_ (http://www.raogk.org/) Have you read the FAQ's lately? _http://www.raogk.org/faq-requesters.htm_ (http://www.raogk.org/faq-requesters.htm)

I assume it is because too many people could not figure how to unsubscribe so they reworded the message. The message has always been there but without your email address in it. On the lists I am on it started on December 1 but not all of the list are doing it yet. -- Robert Blair
Hi, Jack, Marianne and the rest of the list from your list administrator, Pam Warren I believe this tag line was added by rootsweb because of the change to the subscribe/unsubscribe address. It used to have a "-L" and the removal of that is the last remaining trace of the "old" list system. There is no option to remove the tagline in my administrative options, and I have noticed that all of the rootsweb mailing lists that I receive contain this tag-line right now. We don't want you to unsubscribe (unless you want to). But sometimes list members get frustrated when an unsubscribe command doesn't work due to a wrong address. Sometimes, frustrated list members even report list mail as spam to stop receiving it. That does cause problems for all rootsweb list serves. So, I believe this is just a notice to all that there has been a change so you can take note of it. If at any time you have problems with a list command or need assistance on the Michigan Wexford list, please e-mail me at [email protected], or my personal e-mail address of [email protected] Pam Thanks, Pamela A.
