It became Eastern Michigan Uni sometime after 1950's. Write to Eastern Mi Uni and contact the archives or ask for Necrology Files....the latter are notes on individual students. I do not know anything about the Wexford Normal College but that might have become Ferris State College. Universities are just that they are a collection of colleges. Just as Mi State University used to be an Agricultural College......Many colleges became State Universities. Good Luck in your search. She was born in Mesick to Kenteth and Muriel (Moyer) Kidder. In 1938 she graduated from Benzie Central High School. Her husband, Russell was a State Police officer and back then, he had to get permission to marry and go into debt. Judy was a stay-at-home mom until her children grew up and then she worked for K-mart in Farmington Hills. Always a lady, Judy was very concerned for her family's safety and well being. She was a night owl who watched Johnny Carson and Jack Parr, but her favorite was Lawrence Welk. Judy attended the Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader. She was always home when her children came home, and wherever her children were, that's where their mom was. She loved special times with her children and attended football games, band concerts and other activities. Later in life, she and Russell became snowbirds and liked to travel. She loved to putter in her flower garden. Her family and her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and many of her special crafts have become cherished gifts for them. She is survived by her children: Carolyn and Bud Feikema of Rockford, Warren and Sue Leemgraven of Allendale, Rodney Leemgraven and Gary and Janice Leemgraven, all of Walled Lake; grandchildren, Marc and Kerri Feikema, Alison and Michael Reed, Travis and Lisa Leemgraven, Steven and Leslie Leemgraven, and Kenny Leemgraven; ten great-grandchildren with another anticipated special arrival; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Armstrong, Don and Lila Kidder, Mrs. Marilyn Munson and Mrs. Ilene Liberty; and a sister-in-law, Marge Kidder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, her brothers, Marvin and David Kidder, sisters-in-law, Joyce Kidder, Hermoine Cone and Margaret Leemgraven and her husband, Volney. The service for Mrs. Leemgraven will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Rockford Reformed Church with Pastor Rick Tigchon officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook, NE, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Friends may meet with Mrs. Leemgraven's family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe St., Rockford, MI 49341, is assisting the family with arrangements. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hello Thomas, Thank you for checking the 1840 & 50 census. What I recently found was the following: 1870c MI Ionia County, Post Office Saranac, William Kelley age 51 bn NY Occupation Poke Mfg.(the word Poke was illegible) Wife Adeline age 45 bn NY Adaline age 20 bn in MI, home George 16 School bn. MI Charles 13 " " " Helen A. Kelley, d/o William Kelley and Nancy (nee VanNess) Kelley. The information I have is that Wm and Nancy Van Ness Kelley was born in NY and their children were born in Cadillac, MI Wexford County. Then on 1870 census Greenville, MI Montcalm ounty Town of Sidney I see George Van Ness age22 bn NY farmer(this man born then 1848) so Nancy Van Ness age 14 born in MI must be a sister to him. All this sounds confusing and I got some of my info off Heritage Quest thr 1870 data above. The Adaline listed age 20 on the 1870 census then could not be the Adeline Helen I have birth record that she was born 1875 Cadillac MI and her father is William Kelley. As I see it, perhaps there is a tombstone in Cadillac somewhere for William Kelley: his daughter was born 1875 in Cadillac, in 1884 Cadillac Directory there is a man boarding with Mrs N.L. Kelley. So Wm died after 1875 and before 1884. The Kelley lived up the hill near the Wexford Museum. I was told that they had a restaurant on the Corner of Mitchell and Cass for years, now there is Johnston Realestate office there. Thank you and I do appreciate if you can give me any leads.
