Garvin 1834-Dec. 29, 1883 & Inez Garvin. I 'm not sure at this point what her first name was, I think she is the sister of William Garvin. My Aunt,Lillian Harrington born July,14,1908 in Allegan Co MI and died Sept 26,1993 married Louis "Louie" Damaska (born about 1904 and died March 3,1965) on Dec 12,1925 in Grand Rapids, Kent County,Michigan. They had 2 sons that I can remember,Richard "Dick" & Jack. Uncle Louie & Aunt Lillian lived near Luther Mi,on the Pine River the house was named Skokum (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) I don't remember Louie at all,(he died when I was pretty young) I remember the "boys" (although they were adults when I was a kid) While working on my Harrington line I've searched for info on Louie, and suspect he was related to Levi,I do know he had ties to the Boon,Wexford Co area.As I said,I don't know if this will help any or not! 2. Linda, There is a very large tombstont in Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac whose surname is WORDEN: there is no given name on the tomb. I also came acrossed the naame WORDEN in some of my research but cannot put my finger on it immediately as I have been working on another family. Would you let me know more about Mary Jane WORDEN? His name was mentioned in a newspaper article of a private letter so I do not know if he was a friend or related to another family I am working on. I have a VanNess born 1819 without a given name who appear to be the father of :Nancy Louisa (nee VanNess)Kelley. Her husband William died 1878. She remarried to George D. VanVranken 1887 in Cadillac....she was about 12 years older than he. Nancy had a brother George E. VanNess bn 1848.So far that is all the sibblings I found. Do you have the parents names of John VanNess and dob? I do not know if any of this is helpful but I am inclined to believe that the VanNess' are related somehow . I even found some in Oakland County and Saranac, MI with some of the same names. 2. Did you try to use Heritage Quest. Are you a Michigan resident? I tried to look it up but I could not get the site to open up. There are 4 Vandercooks in Wexford County. That is as far as I could get. Maybe they will have it fixed tomorrow. Print is extremely small. You might try Traverse City Bay County. Those boarders changed but do not know when. Also try Manistee County. You might find your relatives Vandercook and Burgess. I will look Sat if site is working properly. Their children were: Sallie (born October, 1878 in MI, NFI), Isaac (1881-1945, married Charlotte COAN), Clarence (1885-1961, married Blanche Leone ARNOLD), Lloyd (born March, 1889, married Ida L. SCHIPANSKI), Verna E. "Vern" (a son, 1895-1979) and a child that did not survive. This family appears in the 1900 US Census for Liberty Twp., Wexford Co., MI and seemingly nowhere else. (Yes, I have searched the new LDS Record Search Pilot Site.) Clarence Vandercook reportedly owned the Chevrolet dealership and garage in Manton. He and Blanche are buried at Fairview Cemetery there. (The other Vandercooks buried in Fairview are from a different, traceable line.) Several of the siblings from this family migrated downstate to Wayne Co.
