The Livonia Civic Center Library in Livonia, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit) has the Detroit News. You can email them at the following: http://livonia.lib.mi.us/genealogy Where is says Livonia Observer Obituary Index, click on the "our webform" option and ask for a look up in the Detroit News. Let them know that you are in Norway. I think they can send you a jpg if they find a death notice. If it is not in the Detroit News, the other option would be to write to the following: Henry Ford Centennial Library 16301 Michigan Avenue Dearborn, Mi 48126 USA Has the Detroit News from 1955 and the Detroit Free Press from 1970. To request a look-up and copy of a death notice/obituary, send self addressed, stamped envelope to above address Attention: Adult Services. They will not respond without the self-addressed stamped envelope. You must know the date of death or burial. There is no charge for this service as of December 2008. There are no online options for the marriage in Wayne County that I know of. You would have to get a copy of the certificate from either the State of Michigan or from the county in which they married. If they appear on the 1930 census as married, that might help with an approximate date of marriage since it asked their ages at first marriage. The 1940 census just has their marital status (married, single, divorced, widowed). If they had children, that could have helped with a date of marriage. If they belonged to a specific religion and you knew where they lived, that might help find a church record but many churches have either closed or moved out of Detroit.
