I thought they usually told people to contact the Burton Collection for a date of death if it was about 1920 or later. Try the Burton first just in case he is listed. He could have died in a Detroit hospital. And it is so much cheaper than Lansing, especially if you don't have the date of death. If you get the certificate from the State, it costs either $26 or $27 plus the $12.00 per year search if you don't have the date of death. Their (City of Detroit)website says to contact the Burton for a date of death-it's free and you can email them on the Burton's website. If he died in Detroit, then get the death certificate from Detroit. Cost is $20.00 per their website: http://www.detroitmi.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=1002 Were they Catholic? I would try calling or writing the various cemeteries near where they lived in Detroit. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
