They have a card catalog for biographical material that they have in the collection plus obits. http://www.detroit.lib.mi.us/burton/burton_index.htm If she died in Detroit, the BHC also has an index to City of Detroit (only) deaths from about 1920 to present?? In addition, they have several books with indexes to Wayne County deaths (excluding Detroit) from about 1934-1944 with a new one in the works. Once you have her death date, the library has the three main Detroit newspapers for that time period on microfilm. The library charges for doing look-ups and making copies. If you live out of state, you can probably borrow the films through the Inter Library Loan (ILL) program at your local library from the Detroit Public Library. If you live in Michigan, you can order the newspapers on microfilm from the Library of Michigan in Lansing through your local library. http://detroit.lib.mi.us/gi/InternetObit.Ltr.pdf http://www.michigan.gov/hal/0,1607,7-160-17449_18643_29527---,00.html Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
