________________________________ Could you tell me if they give out Death Certificates for the 1990's ? Would the Burton Historical Collections have them? They died in Redford and I am not sure if this is part of the Inter City of Detroit. It is held at the Detroit Public Library. You can e-mail the Burton Historical Collection and request a search. The Wayne County clerk has a card index to deaths for the whole county EXCLUDING City of Detroit. The index is by soundex code of surname, then alphabetical by first name. It is inclusive of all deaths except the most recent that are computerized. Michigan vital records has an index for every year after 1914 that is alphabetical by surname. That is why they will only search 3 years unless you pay extra to cover more years. I am a professional genealogist in the Detroit area with 22 years experience. Death certificates are public records and you can purchase them. Burton only has Wayne County death certificates (not including the City of Detroit) for 1935-53. Only the 1935-50 have been processed and only 1935-49 have published indexes. For lookups in the index 1935-50 you can e-mail me at Detroitsearch@hotmail.com with the subject "Wayne Co death". I am currently indexing 1951 so it will be awhile before the 1950-53 records are available and the index published. Redford Township is not in the City of Detroit and you would obtain the death certificate from the Wayne County clerk or the Redford Twp. clerk Ruth McMahon AG® Professional Genealogist Detroit MI area patsy goates wrote: > ________________________________ > > Could you tell me if they give out Death Certificates for the 1990's ?
