Our ancesters came to New France ( Quebec, Canada) in the mid 1650's when the French decided to claim this country. I have genealogy direct line right back to France. Maude's father was Thomas Ouellette a lumber baron from the Amherstburg, Ontario area. Thomas was the brother of my gr gr grandfather Jean Baptiste (Luke) Ouellette. Do you have a membership to ancestry by any chance. I would really like a picture of Maude if you don't mind. I have some pictures of Thomas. I was trying to research Thomas Ouellette's children and grandchildren. I know about Ida's family. The boys are hard to track and any girls who married without their married names. Thomas and his wife Elizabeth had a number of children, a number of them dying early in life. I'm not sure on some whether they died or lived adult lives. Any info you could provide would be great. The Ouellette family was a well off and well know bunch in Exxes County, Ontario since they moved to the! Windsor-Detroit area when the french government approached them to settle the Detroit River area. They recieved grants of land from the french government. The main street in Windsor is Ouellette Avenue. Thomas's parents and large family moved to Amherstburg, Ontario area in the mid to late 1840's. At that time it was thought the railway would be situated their rather than Windsor, therefore the main settlement. Of course it was later decided to have it go to Windsor and that is where the growth went. Amherstburg is still a small town. Look forward to hearing from you again.
