Census wasn't taken until April 1, 1910. If he died prior to that he wouldn't be on the census. Even if he died in early April 1910, he may not appear on the census, especially if he was single. Try contacting the Burton Historical Collection of the main Detroit Public Library to request a look up in the City Directory. Or if they don't do that, try the Bentley Historical Library in Ann Arbor. Ask someone in the reference department if they would check.
