I actually did find one of his sons through his web site. The Cawthons connect into my McDowell family through Nancy McDowell's marriage to James C. Cawthon. Nancy and my James McDowell ancestor were siblings. Somewhere, there is supposed to be an old trunk, possibly Nancy's, that traveled from the South to the North with this family. I've heard the trunk is still in existence. There's always the hope that some of the old papers have survived that would give information on the early family that would enable us to connect farther back. Can you tell me where in Ohio he died, and are you a related, too? If you are related, I would be glad to share information. Thanks for your help.
