Author: trischhall Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.wayne/17889/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Russell Alger Scott and Lizzie Loucks had children, Esther May Scott b. 31 March 1916, and Edward A Scott b. about May 1917 (age 2 8/12 when 1920 census taken in January) Russell Scott died 1919 in a Detroit hospital from complications of appendicitis. Wife Lizzie Scott and daughter Esther both d. Feb 1920 in the flu epidemic at the residence of a sister of Russell in Oakland County, Michigan. Other family did not have means to care for young Edward and he was adopted to Cousens who was mayor of Detroit. I have seen his adoption file number in Oakland County, but adoption records were closed to searching. Since both father and son Couzens were once Mayors of Detroit, we are not sure which adopted Edward, or if he even kept his name. All members of Edward's birth family are deceased and we would like to learn what became of Edward.
