You are a SLC friend of mine with OCGS. This has been bugging me for so long I just thought may be someone on these message boards might have run across it in their research. The original Baptist church was in the basement of the Methodist Church in Dearborn where his 2nd wife Caroline Thompson Cochran Purdy was a member upstairs. I found where she had letters that she was leaving the Methodist Church to join the Baptist congregation. Those were in the records at the Historical Society in Deaborn DEATH NOTICE: Detroit Free Press, 14 Feb 1884 p. 3. PURDY, George, Death of a Dearborn Pioneer. Dearborn, Feb 13-George Purdy died here on Monday, aged 86 yrs. He moved to Dearborn in 1830, bought a farm three miles south of the village and settled upon it. He leaves a widow to mourn the loss of a kind husband and a large circle of friends to mourn the loss of a good man. The funeral will be held on Fri. at the Methodist Church and the remains will be buried in the Putnam Cemetery, at Taylor Center.
