If you can prove a person's death and you are a descendant, you can obtain a copy of the birth record from Michigan Vital Records. Refer to the web site for details. Fee is $26 if you mail the application and are willing to wait about a month for the record. To find out if the 1883-83 birth was recorded, search on the site Pilot.FamilySearch.org.
