    3. Ginger, Thank you so very much for the location of Virginia who would have been about 10 or 11 years old in 1930. Since her mother Josephine was married in 1924, it looks like Virginia was "temporarily" living with her grandparents Fred and Martha Wood at least in 1930. Dorothy, the oldest daughter, would have been around 12 or 13 years old when living with her mother in 1930. It seems a little strange that the girls would be separated. Apparently Josephine divorced Frank Lafond before Sep 1924. I've been looking for this info for a long time and REALLY appreciate your help. I don't know how or where to get a divorce record but I CAN get a marriage record for Josephine by writing to Washtenaw County. I'll check the SSDI too to see if either Martin E. KARAU/KARAN or Josephine KARAU/KARAN is listed. I'm thinking that Frank came back from World War I a changed man. That might be when the divorce took place (between 1918 and 1924). I think Frank was in California in 1920 or soon thereafter. He remarried in June 1928 in Los Angeles, California. By the way, where did you find Josephine's second marriage? (My server dumped a bunch of websites I had listed on my incoming mail menu and I no longer know the good Michigan websites.) I'm looking for the listing of Mrs. Josephine LAFOND and her two daughters Dorothy and Virginia. They may have been living with Josephine's parents Fred and Martha WOOD. Ten years prior (1920) Josephine was in Oakwood Village, Ecorse Twp, Wayne County with her children and parents. I would like to know if they were still in Wayne County ten years later. Josephine was born about 1900 in OH and her girls about 1918 and 1919 in MI. Her marriage to Frank A. Lafond in 1916, Detroit, did not last. It's possible she remarried by 1930 as Frank remarried in 1926 in California. Thanks for any help. 3. Both Virginia and Dorothy were living with Josephine in 1930. It just so happens that Virginia was listed also in the household of her grandparents. Virginia got counted twice. I found both of Josephine's marriages at http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start I hope this helps you out. ----- Original Message ----- From: "two_shoes" <two_shoes@comcast.net> To: <miwayne@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 20, 2009 2:45 PM Subject: Re: [MIWAYNE] 1930 Census Wayne Co MI - LAFOND Ginger, Thank you so very much for the location of Virginia who would have been about 10 or 11 years old in 1930. 3. Ginger, Thank you for the additional info on Josephine and her two girls and for the LDS website. On a hunch, I looked in the Genesee County marriages and found a marriage for one Dorothy LAFOND in 1945. I have asked a RAOGK volunteer to check out her marriage record to see if she is the daughter of Josephine. Thanks to wonderful volunteers like you, I'm on my way to tracking down Frank Lafond's first family. 3. Hello, The Library of Michigan in Lansing has the Michigan divorce index 1897-1969 and divorce summaries 1897-1922. The web site has a list of professional genealogists that you can contact to do the search. Do a search on the web site to find the list. They have reasonable rates.
