I found in some old family papers what seems to be a marriage record for my grandparents. It does have a golden seal. It doesn't look like any other marriage record I've seen before. There is no record number on it. Would there be another/different record with any more info on it? It is type written on official stationary with Probate Office, Wayne Co. Mi at the top. It was dated for Nov. 19, 1925 ( typed), then crossed out and hand written March 19, 1926. On the left side top it lists 2 probate judges. State of Michigan, County of Wayne. ss. Probate Court for Said County I, Edward Command, Judge of Probate in and for said county, do hereby certify that XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX were joined in marriage by me at Detroit, County of Wayne, Mi in the presence of XXX XXX of Detroit, Mi and XXX XXX of, Lincoln Park, Mi as witnesses. In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at Detroit, Mi Edward Command (Signature) Judge of Probate
The reason a couple were married in probate court was that either the bride or groom were underage. You can look at Pilot.familysearch.org under Michigan marriages 1868-1925 in case the crossed out date was when they were married. If not there, then I think you have all the information you will get.
