In the olden days, east side Detroit residents were committed to Ypsilanti State Hospital; west siders went to Northville State. You may want to contact their local historical group and also the Detroit Society for Genealogical Research, they should be able to tell you about any other mental hospitals in and around Detroit.If you could find out who ran the hospital they may still have the records.
