Thank you once more for having taken the time to try and help me! I had not thought of looking for Mary Magee on Family Search and I am therefore all the more excited by the information that you found out about her. She did indeed marry Harold Garhart. My mother had mentioned that name to me. In the 1911 census in Belfast Mary was aged 9, which would put her date of birth at 1902 rather than 1900. She was in fact only 19 or so when she married, not 21. Perhaps she needed to fudge the date for legal reasons, like needing her parents' approval if marrying under the age of 21. I am all the more inclined to that view because the wedding was a civil one, perhaps because Harold was a Protestant. Her Irish Catholic parents would not have been happy at her entering into such a marriage. It's very interesting to see that she travelled to Liverpool in 1926 with Mace (not Grace) and Patricia. In fact her parents were on the same boat! Her parents had emigrated to America in 1923 (I found their names on a ship register) but, according to family lore, her father had problems getting his British army pension paid to him and in 1926 they returned to Liverpool. Presumably Mary was accompanying them. A Google search revealed that Mace died in 2007. As regards George P. Magee, as I have just explained to Georgia, his date of birth does not seem right. Pity! The information that you and Georgia have been able to uncover excites me and motivates me not to despair of finding trace of the Wackermann brothers and of Daniel O'Rourke. I stopped my subscription to Ancestry.com some time ago because I was not making any progress on my American files. In view of what you and Georgia have found there I am going to renew it. Once again, thank you very much for your help! As I said to Georgia, if I can ever help you in any way, please do not hesitate to ask! Best wishes, Eamann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
