They have an index to the City of Detroit (only) deaths. You can email your request at the following: http://www.detroit.lib.mi.us/burton/burton_index.htm I think the index gives the age of the person but I cannot remember. If he died in Detroit, you can get a record from the City of Detroit. If he is not on the Detroit index, records are kept at the county level but he may not have died in Wayne County. Therefore, it would be better at the State level but they charge $27.00 for a 3 year search and 12.00 for each additional year searched. I did not find him on the Social Security Death Index but if he died before the mid 1960s, he would not appear. Also, even if he died later, he may not appear on the list if no one reported his death to the Social Security Administration. I have attached a copy of a border crossing entry for a Michael Magee who appears to be your grandfather and also an index to naturalization with a Michael Magee. If you are interested in hiring a researcher, there is a list of researchers on the website. I don't think I have ever heard of Grand Lawn Cemetery referred to as Grand View. You could try writing the cemetery, enclosing a self addressed stamped envelope and hope that their records are complete but I think they had a problem with whomever ran the cemetery before and the records were not what one would like. If he lived in Dearborn (note spelling), there was a Christ the Scientist Church on Morley Avenue. Georgia Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
