Mrs. Wicker was born in Ecorse, Mich. to James Laughlin and Edith Louise Truesdale McQueen. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was retried from Northern Hospital. Surviving is a daughter, Denise L. House of Mount Airy; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Lewis and Douglas Lewis all of Austin, TX; and Benajaih Wicker, III of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Jim Clifton of Ranchos Murieta, Calif.; and Mary Lou Lynn of Trenton, Mich. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband, Benajaih Pendleton Wicker Jr.; a sister, Naomi Wingfield and a brother, William McQueen. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel and the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Because of Mrs. Wicker's deep love of animals the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Surry Animal Rescue at 112 Quail Run Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
