Curt, First, I try not to deal with the CITY of Detroit or Wayne County. Try contacting Lansing on the birth record issue. Unless, the State changed the rules; I thought birth records were a 110 years before you could get one. Second, for deaths 1897 to 1920 for the State of Michigan, try www.seekingmichigan.org with common surnames be sure to use the advance seach. at this site you can view, print and save to jpg a copy of the death record. I have had much sucess with this site both working the easy way and the hard, harder and hardest way possible. Happy Hunting! marge -----Original Message----- From: Curt Rowe <amroots@zetcho.com> To: miwayne@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, Feb 4, 2010 1:03 pm Subject: [MIWAYNE] Birth and Death Information for Surname Rowe Hi, I just joined the list. My great grandfather William Walter Rowe lived in etroit from 1892 to 1904. He may have been there earlier and later, but I an't find any records. He was married the Catherine/Katherine Davis and had t least five children (William James b 1893, John Patrick b 1895, Mary M. b ec 1896, David King b 1899, and Agnes C. b 1903), all born in Detroit, with ne probably dying there. I have all the birth dates for the children from ther sources except for the one who died young. I looked into obtaining birth certificate, but have seen conflicting nformation. The county site says you have to be named on the certificate r the birth has to be over 100 years ago. When I went to order them, it idn't allow for the latter. Can anyone verify which is the case? I'd also ike to be able to do a search. If the every two year birth pattern for illiam and Catherine was the case then there would have been a child in 901. They appeared in the 1910 census in Los Angles with all but Mary. Is there any online source for death certificates for the county? I have a ubscription to ancestry.com, but can't find anything there for 1890 to 910. Thanks for any help, William (Curt) Rowe ------------------------------ o unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to MIWAYNE-request@rootsweb.com ith the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of he message
