The records have been transcribed and placed on-line at Family Search Records Website: http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start Go to this site then click on "Browse our Record Collection" click on the map of the United States. Scroll down and click on "Michigan Deaths 1867-1897". The enter you search words. I tried Robert Peterson and did not find anything so you might want to place around with just Peterson. Since Windsor, Canada is across the river you might want to check there later. For the time period of 1897 to 1920 the actual death certificate images can be found at the Seeking Michigan Website: http://seekingmichigan.org/ Good Luck.
