She was born Anna Siemowski in Calumet in 1898. Her family later moved to Detroit where she married William Gearhart on 30 August 1919. They had no children. He died in Detroit on 20 June 1928 and was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. She is not buried next to him. Anna Gearhart appeared in the 1930 and 1940 U.S. census records as a widow living with her father in Detroit. She appeared in the December 1943 obituary for her father as Mrs. Anna Smart. She appeared in the June 1965 obituary for her brother Walter as Mrs. Ann Martin. In October 1973 she appeared as Mrs. Ann Martin in the obituary for her brother Anthony. She did NOT appear in the February 1976 obituary for her brother Vincent who died in Battle Creek. Would anyone have any suggestions for how I could uncover who she married without having to pay the state of Michigan for dozens of marriage searches? Thank you for any ideas. Things to remember abt Catholic Church Records - The DPL [Detroit Public Library] has some church records on micro film. DPL requires you to sign an affidavit to gain access. You will need a "day pass" from the DPL. Abt $10. Most of these records are written in Latin, German or Polish. The records are recorded in ledger books either by last name [like the thumbed index of a dictionary] or in year order as the events occurred. There may be separate books for each event - baptism, marriage and death. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
