No one or no group can go to a cemetery and expect to be able to put their records online. Author: martin1811 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.wayne/19052.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In June I made an unexpected visit to Detroit, and while there I stopped at Wood Lawn Cemetery. The staff was helpful, but none of the records are computerized, so someone had to find the correct record book and look up the burial. Since I had never been there, a staff person drove with me out to the grave location. Thus, I was able to obtain the information for the location of the grave. I had called back in April for the grave location, but the lady who took my message never called back with the information. Author: dgrader48722 Surnames: Cramer, Elrich Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.wayne/19052/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Is there any way to get information on Woodlawn Cemetery plot assignments? I have a great grand aunt who is buried in the section reserved for the Masons. She is supposed to be the first woman ever buried in this section. I have a copy of the newspaper article describing the funeral service and it was quite impressive. When I go to find-a-grave neither she nor her husband's name comes up. I realize it is a very large cemetery and I thought maybe there was a map with names on it. Thank you for any help. If you go to my website, www.woodmerecemeteryresearch.com, you will find him. His surname is spelled Zurowsky. His address, or the place where he died, was 4378 51st Street. He was 38 years old. He died from traumatic internal hemorrhage. The records also show that the City of Detroit paid for his burial. He is buried in a singles grave section of the cemetery--in other words, this is not a family plot. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
