Looking for the descendants of Meaer Andreasen and Florence Riley. When Florence was 3 (in 1907), her mom married my great-great grandfather, John Lewis, in Muskegon County, MI. He died in 1908, and Jennie moved on. Jennie died in Kent County in 1912 and Florence resurfaced about 10 years later in Detroit. We never knew that Jennie had a daughter with her when she married John until about 3 years ago. Thanks, Jeanette

In New York State the various County Clerks have large index books about the size of a census book, that is titled something like "Index to Civil Actions". You would have to search several volumes around the years that you suspect that child support might have been an issue. Unfortunately the index is "surname vs. surname" so if it's SMITH or something common you will be looking for some long time. These are open records and once you find a case number a clerk will fetch the file. As you only will have one surname to work with it will be even more daunting. This process can be used to find preliminary cases that lead up to a divorce, which then becomes a sealed record. Quite often there are cases about abandonment, child support, assault, abuse, etc. These preliminary actions to an eventual divorce are not sealed. I have used these often and you get all the juicy details, such as, 'the other woman', or 'the other man,' names, ages, dates of birth, addresses, occupations, if ever in the military, etc. Not sure about Michigan, but suspect the process might be similar. http://unyg.com Dick Hillenbrand Upstate New York Genealogy Please come back and post your success story. Did you try typing the address into google.com? It shows, behind a large tree, what appears to be a house. At first I thought it may have been a garage but notice stairs on the left. It's not a very good photo but may be the only one you find. Also, try Zillow.com. No pic that I could tell but there are values and stats on the house. Built in 1922 one bath ect. This is not one family. My gguncle, Adam, boarded with the Antonows and their sister/SIL Irene Sokalsky. William and Anastie Antonow were a married couple. I am not sure if Sokalsky was Irene's maiden name or not. Adam (my gguncle) did not marry. He committed suicide on June 9, 1932. He was born in Russia around 1894. Estella Laskey was listed as the "Informant" on his death certificate. I don't know if Laskey was her maiden or married name.
