I live in Michigan. The Anna Haas you are referring to is my great grandmother. The Haas family came to u.s in 1854. Anna Haas was married to my great father in Germany. His name was Jacob Hespel{ german for Heseell}. There were 12 people on the boat. Anna's two brothers, her mother died at sea in Nov 1854, 4 chilren of Lambert Haas and his wife {Cathrena} of which one also died at sea in Nov 1854. One of the children was Theadora Haas who married Lambert Metter. My greatparents {Jacob and Anna] and there two children Reinhold and Englehard [german for Albert} . They all settled in Warren twp, Michigan. It was a farming cummunity out side of Detroit. I know that there was relatives that settled in Wisconsin. I have a picture that was taken in Wisconsin with four men on it. It looks like it was taken at a bar. I know one is Rhinhold Hessell, but I do not know the others. The Hessell's had gone to Wisconsin to see a barn that they the Haas fa! mily had built. I have lots of info from the family here, but have wanted to get info from the family in Wisconsin. I think the Haas family in Wisconsin came from Europe earlier. My family went to Wisconsin first, but came later to Michigan. Birth records from Florence Crittenton Hospital in the 1950s were not kept at Wayne County. I went to Wayne County records in person and they said I'd have to go to Lansing to get copies. Apparently, children born "out of wedlock" had their records transferred there. They didn't say why. Don't give up. I found my Dad and DNA proves it but the first step is research. Good luck!
