What I meant was that the family that attended the burial thought it might be a military cemetery but it doesn't mean that it was. I have looked in the records on ancestry.com for headstone applications but so far it does not appear that one was applied for and he is not listed on the US Military site that lists person who are buried in National Military Cemeteries. Again thank you for your interest. Maria Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I know he was alive for the WWII draft and registered in 1942 and that his brother attended his burial before his brother died in 1959. I have looked in the Michigan Death Index but it only goes to 1952 and I am sure how complete it is. Uncle Bill was single, a union autoworker with the Hudson Motor Car Co. (later known as AMC)He fought in WWI and drafted as I said for WWII. I know he died before 1959 because his brother took a ferry from Rochester, NY (prob. more likely from Buffalo)along with his son and attended his funeral which was according to family stories was in a military cemetery. I have had no luck in finding his death and burial using any of the sources or indexes online. He is not listed on any US military websites on service memb! ers interments. I can find no SSN. Have you tried familysearch.org? They have Michigan deaths to 1952. Some of the indexes have images some not. This would near further the date of death. Is there a cemetery the family used? Might contact them. Work around gt uncle Bill working backwards; wife, kids, etc. Was he listed when they passed away? If so, most likely still alive then. If not, likely had passed away. Narrows the years down. Contact the library in Detroit -- Burton-- request a look up of the name if sure he passed away IN the City of Detroit. A few suggestions for you. Back in 2010 there was a jerry who responded to it. He refers to his aunt that has information about the Haas family. He is my sisters nephew from her Husbands side. The aunt he referred to was my sister that just passed away. He has an aunt from his mothers side that married a brother of Mary Bierman. This Jerry is the guy that I found some info from. Did you ever respond to either Jerry or my sister Elizabeth Hessell Malburg. Also there is someone who posted something on your site after me referring to me as Albert D, Hessell. I do not understand this very good as to read it, but who would this be. My name is Albert C Hessell. When Jerry had posted on your website he had referred to the ship as the Florence. Reply to me on my reg e-mail. After I talked to you today, I started thinking because I had always taught the Maria Haas that died on the ship was Johanna' mother also. We have always shown Johanna's father as Nok! oli Haas and her mother as Maria Haas, which then would be correct. However on Dortheas deadth certificate it is referred to her parents as Englebert Haas and Johanna Ferrtnz or something like that. It looked like that info was given by Bernard Bierman, which would of been a step son of Mary Bierman. He was not a blood relative at all, so he may had wrong information.
