    3. Hi everyone, The text of Gov. Granholm's Executive Order 2009-43, which amends Executive Order 2009-36, has just been released and can be found here: http://michigan.gov/gov/0,1607,7-168-21975-221451--,00.html The part of greatest concern to genealogists can be found in Sections II and III. While I do not profess to understand legalspeak, it appears that some provisions are being made to maintain the state library. I do not think that the battle is over yet, but my opinion is that the public outcry made a difference. Peggy Villneff Youngs

    1. [MIWAYNE] obituary and/or death certificate
    2. Hello all...I am new to this list and normally work with Illinois records and rootsweb groups for Cook County, so any help or tips on working with your group would be greatly appreciated. Currently I am trying to find an obit and/or a death certificate for the following person: Jess Petersen born 1907 Oct 03 died 1973 Jul 16 Detroit, Wayne County, MI Where would be the best place to search for an obit for Wayne County? Does any one on this site, do obit look-ups? Do you have someone locally who searches/sends for death certificates at a reasonable fee and/or more quickly than going thru Michigan State government offices or thru "Vital Check"? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks! Aloha, Sallie Wald Hawaii, the big island

The family is all together (except Edna) on the 1910 Census, But by 1920 the family is broken. I have the Father death date of 8 May 1913, 1920 Census - no record of Ida, Norman is in a Boys Orphanage, Martha and Alice are in St Vincents Orphanage for Girls, and Edna age 7 is living with Ida's Sister Anna Trilck. By 1930 Census Norman is in the Army stationed in Hawaii died there in 1977. Unable to locate Martha, Alice is an employee of St Vincents Orphanage, and Edna age 17 still living with Aunt Ann and Uncle William Trilck. Could someone see if they can find the obituary for the Father, John A Santmire died 8 May 1913 Detroit Michigan. Like to find desendents if there are any. If you know where they were in 1930, start looking for the city directories after that year. I know there was one for 1938 and 1940 and then they just to after WWII. There are some city directories on Ancestry, Footnotes and of course at various larger libraries. You did not say where you live. Of course you can go backward from the 1930 city directory to hopefully find when Edith & her husband were last living together. I have found Edythe Soncrant living in detroit in 1930 with her brother, Peter. After this I can find NO information at all on her. I know that her youngest son, my father, Richard, applied for his social security number in 1948. I assuming it is because he was working to help support the family, possibly due to the death of his mother. According to the social security information, they were living at 46332 WILLIS RD BELLEVILLE, MI 48111. If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appricate it. thanks in advanced. I just became a member of "Ancestry," so, consequently, I never saw your note. My Joseph was married to Cecilia or Celia Janowska, only. I was a Krupka. My father was Joseph and Celia's second son, Frank. They came initially to the Edwardsville, PA area, where Joseph was a coal miner, had five children (1 died) before they came to MI in the mid-20s. the children were John, Frank, Leocadia (died as a child), Anthony and Jenny (only surviving child). I would really like to find the Janowski's, my grandmother's people. All of their church involvement was with St. Hedwig's Church in Kingston, PA. Leocadia is also buried at the church cemetery. Sorry, I don't think we're directly related--but maybe back in Russia/Poland. Census records say that both Joseph and Celia were born in Russia, but they spoke Polish.
