    1. Re: [MIWAYNE] Declaration of intent...and naturaliztion papers
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Zelekis Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.wayne/17946.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Altho I have no knowledge of Wayne County, I would like to pass on to you what I have learned about my ggf's declaration and subsequent naturalization. His declaration is dated 7 Nov 1887. His naturalization, dated 13 Oct 1892,seems to be in 3 parts...the first has people vouching for him...the second is his renoucing the King of Denmark...the third is the section that declares him a citizen of the US. It states that the naturalization took place in the State of MN, County of Ramsey, District Court, 2nd Judicial District. There are 15 years between the 2 documents. However this is not the usual time, for in those days the period of time could be shorter, or they may never have taken the time to be naturalized. Quite possibly the FHL might have a microfilm of the naturalizations that occurred in Wayne Couty or possibly the library in Detroit might be able to give you some good ideas. Best of luck! I had gotten the info about where they were but at this point had not written for the records. The original records and a set of films are held at the Archives of Michigan in Lansing. There are also Detroit Recorder's Court naturalizations. They are at the Burton Historical Collection. If you send an e-mail to Detroitsearch@hotmail.com along with the name, I'll check Recorder's Court.
