    1. [MIWAYNE] Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church
    2. D.C.
    3. Hello. Does anyone know where I might find records for the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church? It was located on West Seven Mile Road at Charleston Ave. in Detroit. My parents married there in 1956. Thanks. Donna Note: Currently, I believe it is called the Goodwill Community Church [Baptist].

I noticed that you both had used Ancestry.com to do your searches and so I renewed my own subscription (which dated back a few years) and I am glad to say that that has helped me a lot! Their database has expanded considerably since I last used it and I have found several very interesting records not only concerning my grandfather Michael Magee, but also his brother and sister. I have also found traces of the elusive Wackermann brothers and of Daniel O'Rourke. However I cannot get FamilySearch to provide me with the marriage information about Mary Magee and Harold Garhart in 1921. I have tried using all of the information at my disposal, or just Mary's name or just Harold's name, but to no avail. Any idea what it is that I am doing wrong? Once again, thank you for all your help! Eamann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Each of these extensive gazeteer and immigrant guides contain the description of places and place names, many of which are no longer found on contemporary maps, including: cities, towns, villages, settlements, schools, post offices, transportation routes and schedules, and much more. Historical Guides and Gazetteer CD's may also include maps of the period providing cartographic reference to 19th century places identified and discussed in the literature. Also included are hundreds of advertisements by contributing businesses providing historical insight into the goods, services and the merchants that made them available during the 19th century. Anyone interested in the history of these regions will find this material useful. ------------------------------------------------------------ HISTORIC ATLAS SERIES (includes 19th century atlases of IA, IL, IN, KY, KS, MI, MN, NE, OH, PA, VA and WI) http://www.historic-atlas-series.com/has.html The Historic Atlas Series CD's are digital reproductions of 19th century maps and historical atlas data in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). The Adobe Reader software is required to view, manipulate and print PDF data is included on each CD. States with maps and atlases currently available are shown in the graphic to the right. 19th century geographic and statistical data are useful to historians, genealogists and researchers with an interest in the landscape and cultural setting of this period. Early county maps may contain many places that no longer exist or that have been obscured over time. Atlases with statistical data provide vivid detail of 19th century pioneer lifestyles. Details on early maps are often difficult to read and these are no exception; however, by virtue of the Adobe PDF formatting, these documents may be inspected and printed at high levels of magnification without additional digital distortion; something that simply cannot be accomplished with paper reproductions and photocopies. There is a vast amount of information that can be gleaned from these sources and the diligent researcher will find these cartographic resources useful in their studies. ------------------------------------------------------------ Good luck with your research! 2. Curt, Glad to have been able to head you in the right direction. Happy to know we "only" need to wait 100 years to get birth certificate and thrilled to know in a few years I can get REDUCED cost copies ;) Guess what I will be doing in a few years? Anything else, let me know. I will try and help out. Happy Hunting, Marge With help from Marge, I was able to figure out the birth certificate issue. Anyone can order a birth certificate for someone born over 100 years ago, but has to be my mail using a form. The on-line request method is only for those named on the certificate. Here's links to the page for a mail order: http://www.michigan.gov/mdch/0,1607,7-132-4645_4702---,00.html For genealogical requests, it says there's a one to three month processing time. It costs $26 per record for a three year search. It's only $7 if you are over 65. -----Original Message----- From: miwayne-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:miwayne-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Curt Rowe Sent: Thursday, February 04, 2010 10:04 AM To: miwayne@rootsweb.com Subject: [MIWAYNE] Birth and Death Information for Surname Rowe Hi, I just joined the list. My great grandfather William Walter Rowe lived in Detroit from 1892 to 1904. He may have been there earlier and later, but I can't find any records. He was married the Catherine/Katherine Davis and had at least five children (William James b 1893, John Patrick b 1895, Mary M. b Dec 1896, David King b 1899, and Agnes C. b 1903), all born in Detroit, with one probably dying there. I have all the birth dates for the children from other sources except for the one who died young. I looked into obtaining birth certificate, but have seen conflicting information. The county site says you have to be named on the certificate or the birth has to be over 100 years ago. When I went to order them, it didn't allow for the latter. Can anyone verify which is the case? I'd also like to be able to do a search. If the every two year birth pattern for William and Catherine was the case then there would have been a child in 1901. They appeared in the 1910 census in Los Angles with all but Mary. Is there any online source for death certificates for the county? I have a subscription to ancestry.com, but can't find anything there for 1890 to 1910. All 3 would have cars of other manufacturers, and might be helpful. I'm sure you can find contact information on a web site. Or go to google.com and try autos of 1900 or some other date and see what you get. Antique cars/shows/swaps etc would be a good keywords to try.
