    1. [MIWAYNE] Detroit Polish Pastors - Sweetest Heart & St. Albertus
    2. Joseph Martin
    3. In trying to identify the appropriate parishes and pastors for my Polish families in Detroit, I have gathered this collection of names and dates for the pastors and parishes of Sweetest Heart of Mary and St. Albertus. I would welcome any corrections. I have only listed a few early pastors and do not need all of them through the history of the churches. On the Michigan marriage records from the Family Search Record Search web site, the names of the priest are given on the marriage record but not the names of the church. Perhaps this list will be helpful to others. *Sweetest Heart of Mary Church* Fr. Dominic Kolasinski - 1889-1898 Fr. Romuald Bryzewski - 1898-1899 Fr. Joseph Folta - 1899-1919 Fr. Joseph Plagens - 1919-1935 *St. Albertus Church* Fr. Simon Wieczorek, CR - 1872 Fr. Theodore Gieryk - 1874 Fr. Alphonse Dambrowski - 1875 Fr. John Wollowski - 1879 Fr. Dominic Kolasinski - 1882 Fr. Joseph Dabrowski - 1885 Fr. Vincent Bronikowski - 1888 Fr. Florian Chodniewicz - 1892 Fr. John Mueller - 1894 - 1913 Fr. Joseph Herr - 1913 - 1922 Joseph Martin Romeoville, Illinois -- "When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile."

Perhaps she had gone there after she was widowed as her oldest son and family still live in Gary. Her husband, William Frederick Burgess, born 21 Aug 1895 Burford, Brant Co., is listed as not living in a sibling's obit in 1963 so perhaps died in Detroit. I believe they were already in existence during World War 11 and it's possible that the "Murray Girls" may have been students or possibly female instructors at the local Arthur Murray studio. Perhaps you could check with your local studio to see if they have any historical information about their World War 11 era activities. Just a thought. His name was Emile Boreo and he was a singer, actor, comedian.... An article from Mar 4, 1949 in The Miami Daily News mentions that Emile Boreo owned the Club Casanova. My aunt said that my mother married Emile and danced in Florida with him in some of his shows around WWII. Perhaps the Murray Girls danced and sang at the club too. I haven't checked yet but you might want to take a look at The Miami News archives. Laura Ruffalo ruffstuff@comcast.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
