Thank you for the info. What you have sent "could" be him, but I don't know... And I do not have any other information. I don't think he could have immigrated in 1902 as that would have made him 11 years of age, also he was in the British Army during WW1. The grooms father was a Frederick HEINS. On the back of the photo I have of his wife, it say's "ELSIE". Thank you for your help, Fred. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Jan. I tried: http://www.city-data.com/neighborhood/Delray-Detroit-MI.html. The map has the Delray neighborhood highlighted, so searching was easier. I didn't find your streets, but there was a Cotrell St. and a Melville St. and a Solvay St. Maybe you'll have better luck... Theodora Haas (who died 4 Nov 1911) was married to Lambert Metter. Albert & Mary (Mrs. Henry Biermannn) were two of their children. I have an aunt who is a descendant of Johanna Haas and her husband Jacob Hessell. Johanna, Theodora, and your Catherine were all daughters of Engelbert Haas. Members of the Hessell & Haas families immigrated to New York 15 Dec 1854 aboard the ship "Florence". I believe that your Catherine was amongst them. I have done some research on these families and gave my aunt all of my findings. The families were from Griethausen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany (my aunt still has the Griethausen church records film on loan from the LDS). I know that she talked about having Wisconsin relatives. Hi Rose, That sounds sensible, but, I don't know if Detroit had a street named that or not in Delray. Seems to me that my Mother was telling me that my Grandparents had lived at the corner of Jefferson and something above a grocery or pharmacy or something. I used to go down in that area to a Catholic Church just off from Jefferson in Delray to visit with a Father Sullivan who used to be the Priest at St. Michael's in Livonia which I attended. I really missed him when he left. <sigh> Anyway, my Mom used to have her good old days stories and as a teenager I could have cared less about what went on back then. Now, I kick myself in the rear for not listening. <VBS> Don't know if you can direct link into this site, but, this is where the image is on line 22. http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipManifest.asp?pID=101969050061&MID=02132980170934902560& What I am striving for here is to find my Grandparents in the 1910 Census is Wayne Co. Was in hopes of finding out a date of naturalization for him, which isn't listed in the 1920 census in Genesee Co. where they later moved. I have tried every variation of the name and they don't come up, so I thought maybe if I had the street, I could check that out on the census pages and possibly find them under some far out spelling. Maybe I am chasing a dead horse here and this is probably where my Grandmother's father was living and when she married my Grandfather they moved some where else in Delray. Yupper, I am clutching at straws here and going thru the Wayne Co. Census page by page until my eyes cross. Eglington Avenue is a major street in Toronto, likely named after that family. Suggest you join the Ontario, Canada mailing list and ask this question there. Jones and before I plunk down my money for the official death record, I would like to know if this is the right William Jones. He died April 26, 1950 in the Detroit area, 83 years old. I would appreciate some help on this. If anyone has access to the collection at Burton, this file is labeled Eloise, Box 116, file 10. To get it by mail, they are going to charge a search fee, plus mailing costs and copy fee. If someone could get it for me I would pay them a $5.00 fee plus what it costs to copy and mail to me. The William Jones I am looking for was born 12 Jan 1867 in Franklin Co. Ohio. His parents were Peter Stalba/Stolba and Rebecca Jones. They were married, but he assumed his mother's surname. I think he was raised by his mother's parents. Thanks a bunch. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
