That is why I posted the new web site that someone sent to me which apparently has all the SSDI records. She is one of the best known professional researchers in the country, so I believe that she has the most recent information. Rootsweb.ancestry.com now carries a message regarding the SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH INDEX as follows: "Due to sensitivities around the information in this database, the Social Security Death Index collection is not available on our free Rootsweb service but is accessible to search on Ancestry.com. Visit the Social Security Death Index page to be directly connected to this collection." I find it interesting that ANCESTRY thinks that SSDI is too sensitive for Rootsweb but not for Ancestry since you have to pay to get access. I also object to Ancestry placing some access to databases on FOLD in order to charge more money to people who already subscribe to ANCESTRY. Thanks." I have the basic info on Alice Lenora including her 2nd husband's name and their 3 additional children. She died in PA and is buried with her 2nd husband. I've been working on what happened to her father and step-mother. Still can't find any death information on them. One false lead from someone was that they moved to Connecticut. I'm fairly sure that was a cross-link to the wrong people. Going back in time checking on earlier Sanford family lead me to research into the United Empire Loyalists that the Sanford's may be tied to if the Pratt, White, Huff or Lindsay families they married into were Tories. Early Sanford family itself does not seem to be UE. Florence Irene could also maybe be tied to UE since it I think William Ezra Sanford may have rights to be UE. But Florence Irene's mother Bertha Kelly, I think, is not UE heritage. So it has to be via W.E. Sanford. Alice Lenora has a 2nd chance at UE via her mother's possible tie to UE. I am looking for information about David Fisher, born in 1858 in Michigan to Erastus Fisher and Sarah R. Palmer. He married Bertha (Jacobs) Brinkmann, in about 1903. He and Bertha lived in Highland Park, MI, in 1910 and 1920. Bertha is living there in 1930, but David has apparently died. David had been married previously to Bertha, but I do not know the name of his spouse or children to the first marriage. Any information about David or Bertha, such as death dates, burials, etc., will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. Dan Harvey

The County does have the marriage records. The State should have all the records but it costs more at the state level. There are several cities that are "independent cities" such as St. Louis, MO which broke from St. Louis county in 1876 but Detroit is not one of those.
