They have the Detroit News from 1980. Use the "webform" link under the Livonia Observer Obituary Index and let them know you want a lookup in the News. http://livonia.lib.mi.us/genealogy If not in the News, try the following for the Detroit Free Press: DEARBORN: Henry Ford Centennial Library (313) 943-2330, 16301 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, Mi 48126. Thank you! Dane is definitely correct, and now I can compare this map to a contemporary one. The pages of the 1920 census clearly show "Pollard Street." What's also interesting is that, according to the 1920 census he owned a house on Pollard Street, and then by the 1930 census, he owned a house that our family still knows well on Mitchell in Hamtramck. I'm wondering if the Pollard Street house was destroyed to build a factory and maybe he was compensated for the house and could then buy one on Mitchell . . . . ? Thank you for this map. It's very very helpful for me. What do the numbers on St. Aubin, Dubois, etc., mean in your posting? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The street my grandfather lived on (Dane or Hane?) doesn't exist any more. And the same for my grandmother (Pollard in Hamtramck). I'd like to know where they WERE. (I think they were around Grand Boulevard.) I think they were leveled to build a car plant. Does anyone actually have a copy of a 1920 map of Detroit? Thank you!! Looking for any information about a State Prison inmate named Charles Rouse. He was serving a life sentence for murder, Detroit area. He came up for parole in the mid 1950's and it was denied. He was the son of our neighbors in Platteville, Grant County, Wisconsin. If he died in prison where would he be buried? Ron Vista, CA
The Detroit Library has file cards of all Detroit streets.
