You might check the births listed in the local newspaper for dates of the 28th or shortly after. I was adopted in 1943 and I always wondered the names of my biological parents. Visited the morgue of the daily paper when I was in my teens but didn't see any child born at the hospital on my amended birth certificate. My Mom helped me to have my records opened when I was 40 as I had an interest in genealogy. It helped that she had a good friend who worked at our local court house who was close to the Family Court Judge. Turned out I had seen my birth announcement but they had changed the name of the hospital. Maybe a slip of the tongue when taking his name from his parents- who knows. One thing is for certain, none of the Censuses I've found for him are consistant... different b dates, different places of birth, different places of birth for his parents etc. The two senarios I can come up with is that he just truly didn't know or there is some unwillingness to tell the truth.??? I have James H up until the year 1893 living in Niagara Falls just before he married Minnie Griggs, but that's all I can find on him...nothing earlier. I have been trying to search for his parents forever (James H and Elizabeth whom are recorded on his marriage record). If he was born Detroit, MI from these parents, for the life of me can't find any of them in censuses from 1870 1880 and up until 1893. Grandmother Mary Fratts is gone, and there is a lodger names Clarence Werner living with the family. Also found the family in the 1910 Census indexed as James H. Cushman on Family Search. James, Minnie and Lisle are living in Waterford, Saratoga County, New York. Two men, Robert Shaffer and Frank Ball, who may also be lodgers, are living with the family.
