These records do not include deaths that occurred within the City of Detroit. All indexes compiled by Ruth McMahon. The indexes are broken into four different PDF files. You first must click on one of the following: 1934-1939 1940-1944 1945-1949 1950-1953 That opens a PDF file containing all the index entries for those years. You can locate an entry in the index but, like any index, it only contains abbreviated information. To order a complete copy of a death record, you can complete an online form which is also a PDF file. You must print the form locally and send it in regular mail, enclosing $15.00 per record. Surprisingly, there is no capability to order records and pay online. All orders must be mailed and payment must be made by check or money order. You can access the Wayne County Death Record Index at http://www.detroitpubliclibrary.org/wayne-county-death-record-index. Taken from Dick Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter P.S. NOTE CAREFULLY - This does NOT include deaths in the city of Detroit. Joseph Martin Romeoville, Illinois Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. You also search by the street name but you would get a lot of hits because it would show the page wherever someone living on that street is listed. The back of the directory is where the streets are located. For instance, Collingwood Street is on page 2275. Once you start the search, there is a drop down menu with page numbers. You could just pick a number to see where abouts you are in the directory with the street listings. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had them look for a person sometime in the last 6 months or so and there was no charge. Are you confusing the look up in the death index with the obituary look up? Obituary look ups have a charge. Unfortunately, Andrew died within the city of Detroit, and because I don't know the year of death, the cost for a search would be too prohibitive. I'm hoping to narrow down the search range as much as possible. Thank you, Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I did already have the 1930 census and his Draft Card for 1942 but from then on I have lost track of him.
