    2. United Memorial Gardens in Superior Township, Curtis & Joy Roads, was originally named Booker T. Washington Memorial Gardens in 1929. Shortly after it was renamed Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. In 1954 in became United Memorial Gardens. At one time indigent & welfare cases from Detroit were buried there. Subsequent to 1954 the records are good and the office staff is helpful. A rural cemetery near Ypsilanti fits the description. Try it.

    3. Do you know when this cemetery was begun? I have been looking for my husbands' grandmother and she died about 1922 and we have been unable to locate any burial records for her. When she was living in the Detroit area she died from breast cancer in 1922-1923 time frame. We have never been able to locate any death record or anything on her.
