Obituary For Francis Hill The death of Francis Hill, which occurred at the late residence on Edwards Street April 5th, 1904 removes another one of Milans business men who will be greatly missed. He was born in England June 21st, 1841 at Stanton under Bardon, being 62 years, 9 months, and 15 days old at the time of death. He was married to Margaret Burton February 3rd, 1861. To them were born seven children, Four of whom, Frank and Emeline, of California; Fred, of Oregon, and George, of Detroit, still survive him. July 8th , 1889, he was married to Miss Maria Lamkin, who, with her five children; Eunice, Harry, Harold, Flora and Alice, are left to mourn his lose. Deceased had lived in Milan a number of years, and was always held in the highest esteem as a man of great integrity, being strictly honest in all his business relations. This trait of character seem to have characterized his life from infancy, and he was the proud posseseor of a bible given him by the Bardon Park Baptist Church for his good behavior and regular attendance at Sunday school when a boy. Much sympathy is extended to the family in this, their hour of bereavement. The funeral occurred at the Baptist Church at 1:30 pm Friday, Rev. T. D. Denman officiating, and were attended by large concourse of relatives and friends. The interment took place in the York Cemetery. Obituary for Mrs. Maria Hill Mrs. Hill died at the home of her son, Harry Hill in Detroit last Wednesday, August 31,1932. And funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon. Interment was made in York Cemetery by the side of her husband. Mrs. Hill was a sister of W.P. Lamkin and formerly lived in Milan on Ferman Avenue, where the Weller Greenhouse stood. Mr. Lamkin attended the funeral services in Detroit Other Obituaries and news clippings that were found from The Milan Public Library: A letter was recieved by A. E. Putnam Tuesday that a ten pound boy baby had been born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hill at Los Angeles, California, and then on Wednesday morning Mr. Putnam received a telegram that his sister, Mrs Hill was dead and that Frank Hill and Mrs. Hannah Putnam would start with the remains for Milan wednesday night. It is expected that they will arrive here Sunday night. Obituary and full particulars next week. Another Obituary: Mrs. C. F. Hill died in her home in Ann Arbor Saturday and was buried in the Lodi Cemetery Monday. Death of Mrs. Frank Hill Alice E. Hill was born in London, Monroe County, Michigan., July 11, 1868, the daughter of Nathan C. and Hannah M.Putnam. In March 1873 she moved with her parents to this village, where she resided until her marriage to Frank W. Hill on the 11th day of March, 1891. Since then she has resided with her husband at Alma, Union City, and Homer, Michigan, and Los Angeles, California, at the age of 32 years, 10 months, and 24 days. Her husband, mother, brother and baby boy, aged 12 days, survive her. Alice had been for many years an earnest Christian worker. While living in Milan she was a worker in the Baptist Church, but her Christian life was braoder than any one church, and her life was devoted to all people with whom she met. Her's was a beautiful character and more than a few had been inspired to better living by her faithfulness. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at one o'clock at the home of A. E. Putnam on West Main Street. Rev. Howard A. Feild, pastor of the M. E. Church, preached the sermon, and Rev. Alex. Danskin, of the Presbyterian Church, assisted in the service. The music was funished b a quartette from the Baptist choir. The house and yard was crowded with friends, who had come to show by that act, the love and esteem in which they held her. The precious form was laid away in the pretty Marble Park Cemetery, but her soul we believe has gone to dwell with God. _______ Cards of Thanks. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our many friends and neighbors who have assisted us in our bereavement by their many kind deeds and words of sypathy. Frank W. Hill Hannah M Putnam A. E. Putnam Alice S.Putnam Death of Mrs. Bixby after lingering illness. Jennie Lamkin, daughter of Benjamin W. Lamkin and his wife, was born near Stoney Creek, June 25, 1876, and died in Milan September 26, 1907, after an illness of considerable length caused by cunsumption. She was married July 3, 1896, to Ed. Bixby and they made their home at Saline, continuing their residence there until within a few months, when they came to this place. To this union were born three children. The eldest died in infancy. Thelma, aged nine, and Lincoln, aged seven, are left. Previous to her marriage Mrs. Bixby was for three years a resident of Milan, and by her sweet spirit and gentle manner won many friends. Her fortitude and patience during her years of suffering never ceased to be a marvel to those in attendance upon her. Her trustful living, day by day, resignedly waiting for the great change for which she was so prepared, made lasting impression upon all who were priveleged to visit her."We will not say that she is dead. With a loving smile and a wave of the hand, She has only gone to a better land."Besides the devoted husband, children and parents, are left to mourn, one sister,Mrs. Mable Trueblood,of Granite City, Mo.;one half sister, Mrs. Maria Hill of Detroit, and a half brother, W. P. Lamkin of this place. The funeral was very largely attened, being held in Saline at the First Baptist Church, of which the deceased was a member. Rev. H. A. Huey preached the sermon from the text selected by Mrs. Bixby. The O.E.S. gave their beautiful and impressive service over the casket of their beloves sister. The interment was in Saline Cemetery. Young in years, but rich in the inheritance from her Father's house, her gracios and trustful life has gone from us. Fragrance of it will long remain, and "Some sweet day by and by," we'll understand the mysteries o'er which we question here. ___________ Cards of Thanks, We desire to express thanks to our neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us in our recent bereavement, also the pastor, choir, O.S.E., and others for the beautiful floral tributes.
