    3. Thank you for the info. I am kind of new to this, and I am beginning to see where the names have been changed for whatever reason. I never thought of looking up different spellings. I can't believe you can spell one name so many ways. :-) I don't understand how they could of changed their names like they did. I had a great grandmother that went from Louise A. (Census in 1910) to Emily Louise in 1920. She also went to being born in Canada, to being born in Wales. Did they just guess at this stuff or what?     3. Hi Maria -- The U.S. census does not necessarily give consistent information about the same person from census to census. One reason, as I understand it, is that information was often obtained from an "informant" who may not have known very much and was guessing--the informant could have been a 14 year old child of the household, a domestic, or in some cases if desperate, a neighbor. It's frustrating, isn't it!
