    3. Hi Maria, Yes, aren't the Victorian's strange? My Tainter family of Jackson/Washtenaw County Michigan changed their names almost EVERY census! Either the Census takers made errors or they could not decide which names they liked best. My great grandmother went from Maggie to Madge in 10 years. Her mother, Alice Eliza (Hull) Tainter could not decide between Alice or Eliza! It sure makes our work hard. I had to SEARCH every page of the 1850 Jackson County, MI Census to find Polly Tainter and they misspelled her name as "TINTER", so make sure to spell & search for every possible variation of your names. Gendis is a great site to find deaths in MI before 1897. Also, check out Jack & Marianne Dibean's Marriage index, they have almost every marriage in MI recorded. Are these your McLaren's in the Porters Cemetery: McLaren, Daniel Sep 23, 1857 age 71 yrs McLaren, Myron Dec 23, 1869 age 24 yrs 19 mo 18 da McLaren, James Aug 9, 1835 s/o Daniel & Sarah (Winslow) McLaren McLaren, Sarah (Winslow) Jun 1, 1870 age 60 yrs 10 mo McLaren, M. Ardene Oct 23, 1854 age 1 yr 2 mo 21 da McLaren, Jane Sep 2, 18?? age 7 yrs 6 mo (stone is broken and gone on that side) Good luck, Marilyn in CA (isn't great the internet helps us to find this history?) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maria Sibson" <mariamsibson@comcast.net> To: <MIWASHTE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, May 28, 2004 8:01 PM Subject: Re: [MIWASHTE] Re: McLaren in Washtenaw Co. > Thank you for the info.
