To others wanting records quickly, I received this from a gentleman, Michael O. Anderson, in Washington, D.C. who does searches at the National Archives, who will copy & mail to you. Here is his list, credentials & how to contact him. You will have to ask what his fees are or they may be posted on his website. Civil War Research and Documents - If the individual you are interested in served in the Union cause in the Civil War, his compiled Military Service Record and in many cases Pension Record may be available in the National Archives. The Pension Record would hold the most genealogical information and would contain information not only about him, but about his spouse and dependents. The Pension Records are all ORIGINAL documents; Military Service Records are compiled records.
